The War in his Heart
About
After losing his wife five years ago in a car accident, Warren’s life has drastically changed. Every day he feels the emptiness in his home and in his heart. Even his career as one of the top quarterback coaches in the league is no longer fulfilling. The one thing keeping him grounded and focused is his faith in God, and his sixteen-year-old daughter, Daylen.
Until he meets Khadijah Hughes, a sassy entrepreneur with a dark past. There’s no denying the attraction, and even though love is the farthest thing from his mind, he can’t help but take her business card when she offers it.
When his therapist suggests that he eases his way back into dating by building a friendship first, Khadijah immediately comes to mind. As the two draw closer, the naysayers get louder. Khadijah’s past starts tracking her down, causing Warren’s pastor and friends to attack their love.
Can Warren and Khadijah’s new romance weather the storms of judgment, or will Warren shut down the war in his heart by giving up on love before his faith in it can be restored?
Best described as Kim Cash Tate’s Hidden Blessings meets Though I Stumble, The War in His Heart gives hope to those looking for love after loss.
Praise for this book
This book gave me everything I didn’t even realize I needed and left me with so much to think about and consider. This book was well written and I loved it from beginning to end. Khadijah and Warren were a perfect match. They helped each other heal and encouraged each others healing. I loved that they started off as friends and built from there. I also loved how protective they were of each other and how their faith aligned and helped them stay and get in alignment with each other to get all that they needed and were destined to have. I will definitely be looking further into this author’s catalogue.
This book was so well written. The work these two characters did to have a successful union was admirable. It’s a definite reminder that when God speaks, everyone has to be obedient and listen. A must read for sure!
Thank you, Mya Kay, for that beautiful, heartwarming and enlightening story. It reminded me of some valuable lessons I've faced myself. I sure hope there is a part 2 to this one.
